Biography

Thomas Colborne Dinsmore was born 18 May 1859 in Blanshard, Perth, Upper Canada. [1] [2] He was named in part for John Colborne, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada 1828-1836.

"According to the Wiarton Echo 1910, the first hotel in Wiarton was built on the corner of Gould and Division St. by Thomas Dinsmore." Perhaps later, Thomas and his father had a business called Dinsmore & Son, which advertised that they were importers and dealers in staple and fancy dry goods. [3] Thomas Colborne Dinsmore and Eliza Jane Bradford were married 29 Dec 1880 in Wiarton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada. [4] They lived next to Thomas' parents in Wiarton in 1881, and Thomas was a storekeeper. [5] He was living in Sault Ste. Marie in 1908. [6]

By 1911, he was farming in Tarentorus township, Algoma, Ontario.[7] Thomas died 14 Dec 1936 pulmonary congestion in Tarentorus township. [8] He was buried 16 Dec 1936 in Greenwood Cemetery, Sault Ste Marie, Algoma, Ontario, Canada. [9]
