John was born about 1730. John Dixon ... ^[1]

The senior Dixon, born in Ireland, arrived in Baltimore in the 1770's with his sons and first settled in Belmont County, Ohio, across the Ohio River from Fort Wheeling, but life on the Indian frontier apparently proved to dangerous and they returned briefly to Baltimore before setting out again, this time for Bloomington, Maryland. There Josie met and married Keziah Ward, daughter of Lloyd Ward, Sr. and Elizabeth A. "Margaret" Bell. They moved to Elk District in 1810. (Elk District in Mineral County, West Virginia). John Jr. net and married Drucilla Harvey , daughter of William Harvey, Jr. and Margaret Beall. Nothing is known of their mother or their fate of his father and brothers after 1800. The three brothers are Joseph "Old Josie", John Jr. and William that are known. Info. from a MIneral County, West Virginia reseacher on the Dixon Family of Mineral County, West Virginia.
