He died intestate.[3] On 25 Nov 1799, his widow, Sarah "Sally" Hickman Sellers Dixon, petitioned for three freeholders to act with a justice of the peace to allot her a provision for one year.[3] Her dower in Thomas' lands was laid out on 29 Jan 1803, being a 269 1/3-acre tract of land.[3]
