Henry Dixon is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A200017.

Henry Dixon was born in July 28 1746 [1] in Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. His parents were John Dixon and Rebecca Cox.[2]

In the Blackburn DataBase the Last Name of Henry, his Father , and his children was spelled Dixson. This is just for reference background

Marriage of Henry and Elizabeth, 9 5m 1771:

"Elizabeth Hadley, daughter of John and Margaret of Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle m. Henry Dixon of New Garden in Chester Co., son of John and Rebecca, at public meeting in New Garden (p. 62)[3]

Henry served during the American Revolution as a private from Pennsylvania. He was provided Patriotic Service by suffering depredation in 1781.[4]

Henry migrated to the frontier region of Western PA, Washington County, on the bank of the Monongahela River. The timing isn't precise, but the birth record of his son Simon lists Washington PA late 1780. The family of his brother Joshua are also recorded here at same time, along with others from the Chester, or Lancaster PA quaker communities. There are records that his cousins the Allens migrated at the same time to same favorable location.

One of the earliest land records in Allen Township (now named Roscoe PA) has his patent: "Dixon's Intent" HENRY DIXON – 142 acres,48(Perches-square) & Allow. War. Aug. 31, 1784 Sur. Dec 13, 1784 Pat. June 24, 1786 to Henry Dixon P-6-332 From The Horn Papers, book 3, Township Map. (John H. Campbell, Chief Draftsman)

Contributors should check for records that clarify the timing of the families move Down the Ohio River to southern Ohio. This migration was also one that other relatives and close Quaker families made from Washington PA.

There is a note below from 2016 saying "no indication he went to Ohio". the Census and other records place his Washington County PA location to be in close proximity to his brother Joshua Dixson-3073. there is clear town history source evidence Joshua was one of earliest settlers in Columbiana OH. The elementary school there was/is named Joshua Dixon. Columbiana is not that far from Wash County PA.

from southeast PA locations, some of the Dixon families went south and some went West.

the part cut out (to be under 800 characters) in the previous post explains (Orthodox) & (Hicksite):

"The monthly meeting was transferred to Western Quarterly Meeting in 1758. In 1760, its name was changed to "Kennett". At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the monthly meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches.

"Kennett Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1939, and most of its members were transferred to New Garden Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) in West Grove, Pa."

this site has a good "short history" - "The first monthly meeting of Friends which was to become Newark was held at the Widow Welsh's in New Castle in 1686. It became part of Chester [Concord] Quarterly Meeting in 1693. The monthly meeting was transferred to Western Quarterly Meeting in 1758. In 1760, its name was changed to "Kennett". ...

Kennett Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1939, and most of its members were transferred to New Garden Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) in West Grove, Pa.

"Kennett Monthly Meeting (Hicksite), which reunited with Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (Orthodox) in 1955, was the forerunner of the current Kennett Monthly Meeting."

Dixon-1306 and Dixon-3070 do not represent the same person because: Dixon-3070 shows no parents, wife, or children. There is nothing I've found for Dixon-1306 to think he went to/died in Ohio. And nothing in the profile of DIxon-3070 to support that he did - or that he was born 1746. These appear to me to be different men. There are many Dixon/Dixson families in the area at the time.

Dixon-3070 and Dixon-1306 appear to represent the same person because: Quaker meetings the same. (it's confusing)
