Henry Dixon was born in July 28 1746 [1] in Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. His parents were John Dixon and Rebecca Cox.[2]

Marriage of Henry and Elizabeth, 9 5m 1771:
- "Elizabeth Hadley, daughter of John and Margaret of Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle m. Henry Dixon of New Garden in Chester Co., son of John and Rebecca, at public meeting in New Garden (p. 62)[3]
Henry served during the American Revolution as a private from Pennsylvania. He was provided Patriotic Service by suffering depredation in 1781.[4]
Henry migrated to the frontier region of Western PA, Washington County, on the bank of the Monongahela River. The timing isn't precise, but the birth record of his son Simon lists Washington PA late 1780. The family of his brother Joshua are also recorded here at same time, along with others from the Chester, or Lancaster PA quaker communities. There are records that his cousins the Allens migrated at the same time to same favorable location.
One of the earliest land records in Allen Township (now named Roscoe PA) has his patent: "Dixon's Intent" HENRY DIXON – 142 acres,48(Perches-square) & Allow. War. Aug. 31, 1784 Sur. Dec 13, 1784 Pat. June 24, 1786 to Henry Dixon P-6-332 From The Horn Papers, book 3, Township Map. (John H. Campbell, Chief Draftsman)
Contributors should check for records that clarify the timing of the families move Down the Ohio River to southern Ohio. This migration was also one that other relatives and close Quaker families made from Washington PA.

"The monthly meeting was transferred to Western Quarterly Meeting in 1758. In 1760, its name was changed to "Kennett". At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the monthly meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches.
"Kennett Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1939, and most of its members were transferred to New Garden Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) in West Grove, Pa."
