William Aubrey Dixon was born on 29 November 1899 in Washington, North Carolina, United States, son of George W Dixon (1871–1931) and Isolind Chesson (1878–1960).

Aubrey (23) married Mary Ellen Robertson (22) (born in North Carolina, USA) on 10 February 1923 in Portsmouth, Virginia, USA. Their son was William Aubrey Dixon (born 14 February 1925).

Aubrey died on 26 January 1935 in Hamilton, Martin, North Carolina, aged 35.[2] [3] He was buried in Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Roper, North Carolina.
