Biography

Isabella was born in 1875. Isabella, daughter of music teacher Benjamin Rickaby Dixon and Isabella Wardhaugh, was born on 4 April 1865 in Belfast, Ireland.[1] She was baptised in Carnmoney, Antrim, Ireland.[2]

She married baker's son William John Stitt in 1886 in Belfast. William married Isabella Dixon on 26 February 1886 in the Belfast Superintendent Registrar's Office.[3]

The family then left Ireland for North America, initially Toronto then Berkeley, California. This may have been connected to Elizabeth's father's work as a music teacher.

Isabella's daughter Elizabeth Stitt was born on 30 November 1888 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[4]

After 1890 the family returned to Ireland, settling in Belfast, although in 1898 they were in Chorley, England for indeterminate reasons.

In the 1901 census Isabella (age 35), Housekeeper, was the wife of William John Stitt in Holywood, County Down, Ireland (the suburbs of Belfast).[5]

Once again the family appear to have crossed the Atlantic, back to Toronto.

Isabella's son Norman Dixon Stitt was born on 13 February 1909 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[6]

In the 1911 census Isabella was the wife of John Stitt in Lanark South Sub-Districts 1-37, Ontario, Canada.[7]

Isabella's son William John Stitt married Irene Clara Edmonds on 12 April 1911 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[8]

Isabella's son Benjamin Rickaby Stitt married Elizabeth Morland Brown on 20 September 1911 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[9]

Jane's son William J Smith married Amelia Archbold on 28 January 1914 in Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States.[10]

Isabel's son Robert James Stitt married Florence Elsie Garbutt on 16 July 1919 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[11]

Isabella's son Herbert Stitt married Mary Mcfee Auld on 15 September 1920 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[12]

Isabella's son Harold Stitt married Edith May Given on 1 June 1921 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[13]

Isabelle's son Richard Robinson Stitt married Edna Florence Hill on 9 January 1923 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[14]

Isabella's daughter Violet Isabel Stitt married Wilfred James Tate on 25 December 1926 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.[15]

Isabella passed away in 1949 in Toronto, Canada, and was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.
