Biography

Margaret was born in 1677. She is the daughter of Robert Dixson and Priscilla Kennedy. She married Alexander Stewart prior to 1701, then immigrating to America, settling in Voluntown, Connecticut. She was the mother of at least 8 children: Alexander II, John, Margaret 1704, William 1705, Thomas, James, Samuel and Nathaniel. Patrick 5th Laird Ledcreich Stewart 1697, She passed away in 1729.

It is believed that Margaret Dixon was either the sister of cousin of John and Robert Dixon, first of New London and then of Voluntown. The Stewarts and the Dixons evidently came from Ireland at the same time and they were situated in the same towns after arriving at Conn. This remains to be proven.
