Alice was born on 22 August 1839[1] in Bishop Auckland, Durham, England. She was the daughter of George Dixon and Alice (Swinburn) Dixon.[2]
In the 1851 census Alice (age 11) was living in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England. Relationship: Daughter.[2]
In the 1861 census Alice (age 21) was living in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England. Relationship: Daughter.[3]
On 10 Aug 1865 in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, she married David Fox, a grocer. They had 4 children: Arthur Payne Fox (1866–), Charles Ewart Fox (1868–), Helen Julia Fox (1872–) and Basil Fox (1873–1922).
In the 1911 census Alice (age 71) was living at 111 Stanhope Road Darlington, and was widowed, but living with her son Charles Ewart Fox (a grocer).[4]
Was mis-recorded as Abie Dixon, based on a misreading of the 1851 census return.
