Biography

Elizabeth 5th child of Joseph, was b. Nov. 21, 1791, d. July 22, 1862; m. Sept. 3, 1812, Job Haines, b. Sept. 30, 1786, d. Aug. 25, 1859, son of Joshua and Hannah Haines. He fought in the War of 1812. They were condemned by Center Monthly Meeting of Friends for marrying out of unity with the meeting. Children: (In addition to those listed, they had 9 daughters who d. in infancy.):

  • Isaac, b. 1813; (m. 1835, Susannah Lundy. He was a "Squirrel Hunter" in the Civil War and received an honorable discharge, Sept. 1862. Their issue: Elizabeth; Mary J. and Joseph);
  • Jeremiah; (m. Sarah Jacob); 3. John; (m. Orpha Greer);
  • Joseph.
