In the same year he married Rhoda, Ralph went into a partnership with Rhoda's father, Andrew Graham, as Graham and Dobson, Chartered Accountants. The Company still exists today and in the course of its 106 year history has had both Ralph's son, Malcolm, and grandson, Paul, as Partners.
He passed away in 1968 and was buried (February 2, 1968) in the Taruheru Cemetery in Gisborne, NZ.
