Biography

John D Dodd was enumerated at Fayette, Fayette County, Georgia for the October 28, United States Census, 1850. He was noted as born 1846 in Georgia as seen in this United States Census, 1850. Also included in the household are male John S Dodd, female Elizabeth H Dodd, male James L Dodd, female Elizabeth Dodd, male Thomas E Dodd, male Francis M Dodd, male Asa S Dodd, male George Dodd, female Nancy Dodd, female Ludercka A Dodd, female Setha A Dodd and female Sarah L Dodd.[1]

J D Dodd was enumerated at Fayetteville, Fayette County, Georgia for the July 12, United States Census, 1860. He was noted as born 1846 in Georgia as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male J S Dodd, female E H Dodd, male A L Dodd, male G M Dodd, female L A M Dodd, male M F Johnson and female S L Dodd.[2]

February 1, 1864 to March 18, 1865 Georgia

Quoted Text: "Dodd, John D. private February 1, 1864. Pension records show he was sent to hospital at Camp Winder, at Richmond, Virginia with diarrhoea, July 1864, and was at home on sick furlough from August 15, 1864, to February 1865. Rejoined command at Charlotte, North Carolina 15 March 1865. Wounded at Bentonville, North Carolina 18 March, 1865. In Greensboro, North Carolina hospital close of war."[3]

J D Dodd was enumerated at Douglasville, Davis County, Texas for the September 1, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1844-1845 in Georgia. He is noted as a farmer as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are female Barbra Dodd, female Elvyra Dodd, male Thomas Dodd and female Ada M Dodd.[4]

John Daniel Dodd left the following in his note book: "Came back to Georgia, farmed two years at which time had two daughters, then went to Atlanta(Georgia) to educate my children, where was borned in 1873 Eva Carr and after twins Theodocia Ola and Theodora Ora. After that one other Barbara Bethenis. The three last died in infancy. Thomas M.died at the age of six years and six months. I engaged in the mercantile business, did moderately well, considering have no help for as my girls got out of school they were then marriageable and married off. They did well, all have families and my son is Supervisor of Central Georgia Railroad, Supervisor of Bridges."

J D Dodd was enumerated as head of the household at 68 Magnolia, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia for the June 9, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a salesman and born February 1846 in Georgia. He had been married for thirty-five years and was a renter. Also included in the household is wife B B Dodd as seen in an image of the original census.[5]

John D Dodd was enumerated as father of the head of household at Wild Wood Circle, Bozeman, Muscogee County, Georgia for the May 2, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1846 in Georgia and had been married for forty-five years as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Asa M Dodd, wife Julia B Dodd, son John S Dodd, son Guy B Dodd, daughter Lillian G Dodd, son Asa M Dodd, son Henry B Dodd and mother Barbra B Dodd.[6]

Jno. D. Dodd is the father listed in the Birmingham, Jefferson County August 5, 1925 Alabama Death of daughter Sarah Elizabeth Wilson. The husband was noted as Chas. C. Wilson and her mother Barbara Brown.[7]

J D Dodd was listed as the father of Asa Mcduffie Dodd who died June 24, 1938 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. The mother was listed as Barbara Brown.[8]

John D. Dodd is buried at Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery in Fulton County, Georgia.[9]
