Biography
Jesse Dodson Sr. was born 16th November 1772 in Pittsylvannia County, Virginia. Jesse was the son of George Dodson Jr..
Jesse married Margaret "Peggy" McCorkle on the 4th of February 1796 in Madison County, Kentucky.[1]
Jesse appears as head of household in the 1820 Federal census in Champaign County, Ohio. Jesse's household appears as follows: 1 male under age 10; 2 males ages 10 thru 15; 1 male age 16 thru 18; 2 males ages 16 thru 25; 1 male age over 45; 1 female age under 10; 1 female age 10 thru 15; and 1 female age 26 thru 44.[2]
Jesse appears as head of household in the 1830 Federal census in Champaign County, Ohio. Jesse's household appears as follows: 1 male under age 5; 1 male age 10 thru 14; 1 male age 50 thru 59; 1 female age 20 thru 29; and 1 female age 50 thru 59.[3]
Jesse appears as head of household in the 1840 Federal census in Miami Township, Logan County, Ohio. Jesse's household appears as follows: 1 male age 5 thru 9; 1 male age 30 thru 39; 1 male age 60 thru 69; 1 female age 20 thru 29; and 1 female age 60 thru 69.[4]
Jesse appears as head of household in the 1850 Federal census in Miami Township, Logan County, Ohio. Jesse's household appears as follows: Jesse Dodson, age 78, born Virginia; John Dodson, age 33, born Ohio; Margaret Sailor, age 32, born Ohio; Mary Sailor, age 8, born Ohio; Rebecca Sailor, age 5, born Ohio.[5]
Jesse died May 1851, in Miami Township, Logan County, Ohio. Jesse was buried next to his wife Margaret "Peggy" Dodson, in the Olive Chapel Cemetery, Miami Township, Logan County, Ohio.[6]
