Biography

Marcellus states on his application for a land grant in Oregon that he was born in 1819 in Alabama.[1] Marcellus and Susan Hardy were married in 16 Feb 1843 and are in the 1850 census and living in McMinn County, TN USA. They travelled over the Oregon Trail in 1852[2][3] to what is now Richreall, Polk, OR and secured a land grant. He moved to Cache Creek Township, Yolo, California very soon after that.[4] Marcellus was living in San Luis Obispo, CA in 1880 according to the census and he died there soon after and is buried at the Adelaida Cemetery.[5] The San Luis Obispo census reports that he was a C.P. Preacher.[Cumberland Presbyterian]
