Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1636, likely at Watertown, Massachusetts, daughter of John Doggett and Alice Brotherton. [1]

Her parents were first of Watertown by about 1630, moving to Rehoboth by 1646 and later Martha's Vineyard by 1651. [2]

Elizabeth received bequests of land, cattle and horses in her father John Doggett's will dated May 13, 1673 and proved June 4, 1673. On May 29, 1675, John Edy, husband of Hephzibah (Doggett), and Jeremiah Whitton, husband of Elizabeth (Dogget) quitclaimed their rights of land to their brother-in-law Joseph Doggett. [2]

Elizabeth married Jerimiah Whitten [1] in about 1660. Jeremiah came to New England in 1635 aboard the Elizabeth and Ann, at the age of about 8, with his parents Thomas and Audrey Whitten and some of his siblings. [3]

They had at least two children Thomas and Mary. [3]

Thomas Whitten made his will in 1664, names his son Jeremiah and his grandson Thomas Whiton. [Plymouth Colony Probate: vol.3: p, 7] [3]

Jeremiah made his will Nov. 8, 1711, which was proved on Dec. 29, 1711. He appointed his son-in-law Benjamin Manter executor. In it he names:
