John Doggett was born on March 29, 1697 in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He is the son of Samuel Doggett and Bathsheba Holmes He was christened on September 27, 1702 in Marshfield.[1]
He was the Deacon of the Congregational Church in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut.
He married Margery Eames on October 8, 1719. His marriage to Margery Eames or Ames appears in the records of both Marshfield, Massachusetts and Lebanon, Connecticut -- both with the same date but different spelling of Margery's first and surnames (Margary vs Margery, Eames vs Ames).[2][3][4] Their children were born in Lebanon.
John passed away at an age of sixty-six on February 19, 1764 in Lebanon. He is buried in the Old Andover Cemetery in Andover, Tolland County, Connecticut.[13]
Inscription on his tombstone reads:
In Memory of Deacon John Doggett who died Feb'ry 19th 1764 in ye 67th Year of his Age
