Biografi

Enligt Snorre Sturlasson

Domar efterträdde sin far Domaldi som "kung" och han hade bättre tur med skörden. Han styrde under en lång tid av fred och välstånd. När han dog av naturliga orsaker brändes han och gravsattes i Uppsala.
Domars fru hette Drott Danpsdotter. Hennes bror var Dan den högmodige som Danmark är döpt efter. Domar och Drott fick sonen Dyggvi.

Biography

Name

  • Old Norse: Dómarr - meaning Judge (source?)

According to Snorri Sturluson

Domar followed as "king" after his father Domaldi. He had better luck with the harvests and ruled for a long time in peace and prosperity. He died a natural death and is said to have been burned and buried at Uppsala.
Domar's wife was Drott, daughter of Danp. Her brother was Dan whom Denmark was named after. Domar and Drott had the son Dyggvi

According to Johan Peringskiöld

Peringskiöld has estimated Domar's death to 162 AD.[1] See Sources for Early Swedish Monarchs for more information about Peringskiöld.

Research Note

  • Because persons who never existed (not historically proven) cannot have actual parents, siblings, spouses, or children, profiles of legendary persons should not be linked to other profiles on WikiTree (besides in the biography).
Furthermore, the birth year does not represent an actual birth year for this profile, it is only added because all WT profiles must have a birth or death date.
  • These profiles should not be considered as "King of a country" but they were more likely to be "petty kings", mighty men who were rulers of a domain (of uncertain area).
  • Relationships between historical figures could have been simplified or even fabricated in the text to give the impression that succession remained within the same family….Precise chronology is also difficult to assess from the Sagas….The conclusion must be that the tight family network described in the Sagas is unlikely to be correct and that the relationships shown below should be treated with considerable caution.

A WikiTree profile should have a few managers, no more than 4-5. Since this is now managed by two project it would seem to be in good hands. If you are not pre-1500 certified, could you please remove yourself as manager? You can still be on the trusted list of this profile if you want to be alerted of any changes.

There are still too many managers for this profile and you have had five months to communicate if you had an interest in the profile. Those who are not pre-1500 will now be moved to the Trusted List
