In 1881 Samuel was living in Carnwath with his wife and son. Also living there was Samuel's brother Alexander and Janet's sister Agnes. Samuel was a coal miner. [5]
In 1891 Samuel and two of his children were living at 18 and 19 Auchengray, New Monkland with his aunt Margaret and uncle John.They also had a boarder who was a miner from England.[6]
In 1901 Samuel was living with his second wife, Margaret and four children at 27 Quality Row, Forth, Lanarkshire. He was a coal miner. [7]
In 1902 Samuel was the informant when his aunt Margaret (Shaw) Neish passed away. Margaret passed away whilst visiting Samuel and his family.[8]
