Sydney Donaldson was born about 1800, Union District, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Robert Donaldson who died in Union, South Carolina. Her guardian was James Donaldson, who provided court guardianship accounts 1817-1822.[1] Robert Donaldson was the son of Hugh Donaldson of Union, South Carolina, named in his will 1812 referencing his son Robert as being deceased and providing for the heirs of Robert Donaldson.[2]
