James Donnelly was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales
James wife Ann Peggs, emigrated from London by 1825, with children Ann and Rose who married James Grady in 1835. Rose was born in London in 1818, and Henry in Sydney in 1826. They lived at Brisbane Valley in the Fish River district near Oberon, NSW. Their land is in Mozart an now forms part of the property Lochlene. They and their descendants are listed in the Bathurst Pioneers register. [1]

Reported to be James Conley, one of 160 convicts transported on the Earl St Vincent, 06 April 1820 [2]
He was found guilty of uttering forged notes & received a 14 year sentence at Middlesex Gaol Delivery [3]

On list of prisoners on establishment at Bathurst with sentences not transmitted; listed as Conley 1824 Apr 10 (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.102) [5]
Ann and the children (Ann and Rose) were in the colony by 1825 (Midas 1825) and resident at the Female Factory, Parramatta [6]
He received his Certificate of Freedom in January 1834, James Conley b1787 County Wicklow, Complexion dark sallow, hair dark, eyes blue, height 5 foot 5 inches [7]
Buried: with Ann Donnelly James 26 May 1868 84y h/Ann; father at O'Connell Catholic cemetery: parents Henry and Rose. Sons Henry Donnelly (1826 - 1877) and James Donnelly (1828 - 1901) are also buried at O'Connell Catholic cemetery.
