Frances Eustis Donner was one of 81 pioneers in the Donner Party wagon train to California that became snowbound in the Sierra Nevada in 1846.
Frances Eustis Donner was born July 4, 1840 in Sangamon, Illinois, the daughter of George A. Donner and Tamsen Tamzene (Eustis) Donner. She was the sister of Mary Martha Donner, Georgia Ann Donner and Eliza Poor Donner. Frances and her family were part of the ill fated Donner Party that were trapped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains while emigrating to California. She was saved in the third rescue at the age of six. [1][2]
Frances married William R. Wilder and they had two sons, James and Delmar.
Frances died November 21, 1921 in Byron, Contra Costa, California. She is buried at Union Cemetery. Brentwood, Contra Costa County, California, USA.[3]
