This was merged without my knowledge, I do not know where the Biography came from. I never paste in other people's words and commit plagiarism. He has more than one brother, why bring up only one in the third word of a bio intended for William? This is a chaotic mess! It defies History. There are now errors ascribed to me. This hurts my heart.
Biography
"William - not a Junior as his father has no middle name - was born near Greenwood, grew up on a farm, then moved to the farm right next door. He wed Louisa Ann Ankrom on 16 April, 1840, and they had nine biological children, and adopted a tenth.
William gave his Occupation as "Farmer" on every Census, and was also "a local preacher of the Methodist Protestant Church". Some people living in the 21st Century call him "Pastor", but that was never a title. My understanding from reading several bits and bobs from books and the Census records was that he gave Biblical names to a few of his children, he preached... but he was primarily a husband, father, and farmer.
Two of William and Louisa's sons fought in the Civil War, it appears for the Union, in "COMPANY A, 4th West Virginia Calvary [they entered the year before West Virginia was granted statehood, so this name may have been created later, or simply western Virginia] both were discharged in 1863.
Because of the diligent research of many, there are so many mentions in books and other records of this family.
