Charles Dotson
He was born in 1825 and is the son of Zachariah Dotson and Eliza Edleblute. Middle initial W or E. Occupation: Farmer Married to Maria J. Doak 11-17-1864 in Tyler Co., WV. It was her 2nd marriage. She was divorced from Simon D. Coleman. Parents of one son: Nathan Sherman-14 in the 1880 Census.
Charles was a Union soldier during the Civil War: Sgt. Co. E, 6th WV Infantry 1861-1864. He was captured by the Confederates on 4-30-1863 at Bridgeport. Confined at Richmond, VA 5-9-1863. Paroled at City Point, VA on 5-15. Sent to convalescent hospital near Alexandria, VA, then to Camp Tyler Hospital near Baltimore. Returned to duty 9-24. He died in 1899 and is buried in Wilcox Cemetery, Cloud County, Kansas.
