William, 10th Earl of Angus was born circa 1550 (said to be aged 42 in July 1592[1]). He was the son of William Douglas, 9th Earl of Angus and Egidia Graham.[2][3]
He married Elizabeth Oliphant, daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 4th Lord Oliphant and Lady Margaret Hay, between 12 April 1585 and 24 June 1585.
He died on 3 March 1611 at Paris, France. He was buried at St. Germain des Prés, Paris, France.
He succeeded to the title of 10th Earl of Angus [S., 1389] on 1 July 1591.1 In 1592 he joined in a plot known as the 'Spanish Blanks', to establish the Roman Catholic religion in Scotland, and thereby incurred forfeiture.1 In 1608 he retired to the Continent.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of Nationary Biography.3
