Margaret Douglas, Countess of Lennox, was the daughter of Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus and Margaret Tudor, sister of Henry VIII. She's buried in the Henry VII Chapel at Westminster Abbey.[1][2]

Secret Affair and Prison

Margaret was incarcerated for having an affair with Thomas Howard (son of the 2nd Duke of Norfolk and Agnes Tilney). Henry VIII, refused to let them marry, and locked them both up. But due to illness, Margaret got out of prison, and survived her sentence ... while her lover died in the Tower.[3][4]

They had no children, but conjecture from Moss (1976), alleges they had a son, Robert. Beyond this... there's no proof that actually happened.[5]

Marriage

In any event... the truth is that she turned around, and married Matthew Stewart, 4th Earl of Lennox. Her grandson, James became King of Scotland as James VI.[1][3][4]

Douglass-2201 and Douglas-65 appear to represent the same person because: Looking at the link on Douglass-2201 she is clearly supposed to represent Douglas-65. Have disconnected her from a duplicate Thomas Howard and will propose a separate merge for him. Cheers, Elizabeth
Hello profile managers - I've linked a portrait which was previously attached to the profile of Margaret (Boleyn) Sackville. The portrait was sold by Sotheby's in 2010, and I've left the link to the sale catalogue on the page for the image showing their analysis of who the sitter was.

The two different Margaret's as mentioned by John have been corrected. The content for Margaret that was the wife of Francis Stewart has been moved to Douglas-1846. Francis has been removed as husband and children have been moved, a so.

There is no proof that Margaret Douglas, married Thomas Howard, and even if she did, her last husband was Matthew Stewart or Stuart and one of those should be her Current Last Name.

There has also been a merge at some point between 2 different Margaret Douglas, The wife of Francis Stewart was Margaret Douglas, but not the Countess of Lennox. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Stewart,_5th_Earl_of_Bothwell
