James Alexander Douglass was born in 1762. James is the child of William Douglass and Mary Higginbotham.
"We did not find much about the Douglass family in Loughborough before they arrived in Harborough but in 1808 the bankruptcy of James Douglass, merchant or worsted manufacturer of Loughborough featured in the Leicester Journal. He went on to advertise he was selling wines and spirits from Mrs Capp’s in Loughborough High St. J C Davies discovered James Douglass owned a farm in Loughborough. "
