When Virginia Ann "Ginny" Douglass was born on January 16, 1845, in Wise, Virginia, her father, John, was 25, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 20. She married William Addison "Ad" Lewis on October 24, 1866, in her hometown. They had seven children in 18 years. She died on January 19, 1929, at the age of 84, and was buried in Falls Church, Virginia.
