Alexander Dow was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)
Alexander Cathcart Dow was born on 21 January 1855 in Sydney, in the Colony of New South Wales and was baptised on 12 December 1855. He was the son of John Dow and Janet Colquhoun Baird.

He died, aged 26, after a short illness, on 15 February 1881 at Hillston, Lachlan River, New South Wales and was buried at Hillston Cemetery.
