"Leonard Arthur Dow was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, the son of Leonard and Annie Dow. When Leonard was 3 year of age the family moved to St. John, NB. He completed three years of high school at the age of 16 and worked as a carpenter for two years prior to his enlistment.
Between enlistment and October, 1942 he was stationed in St. John, NB and served with the St. John Fusiliers. He went overseas arriving in the United Kingdom on October 7, 1942 and served there until July 10, 1943. He was eventually assigned to the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, RCIC. and was serving in Sicily when he was wounded in action and died from wounds on July 25, 1943"[1]
Leonard is buried with all Canadians who fell in Sicily in the Agrira Canadian War Cemetery.
