Biography

Mary was born 26 April 1644, in Newbury, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Thomas Dow and Phebe Finn.[1]

Mary married Gilbert Wilford (abt.1642-bef.1676) about 1666 in Haverhill. The couple had the following children, born in Bradford, Massachusetts:[2]

  1. Mary, b. 18 Nov 1667
  2. Martha, b. 18 Jan 1669
  3. Ruth, b. 15 May 1672
  4. Nathaniell, 20 May 1675

Gilbert died about 1676, and the widow Mary married Matthew Clark (abt.1652-bef.1715) in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on 2 April 1679.[3] Their children, born in Haverhill:

  1. John, b. 30 Mar 1680 p. 66
  2. Dorcas, b. 25 Jan 1681 p.65
  3. Matthew, b. 20 Feb 1683 p. 66; died 22 Feb 1683
  4. Sarah, b. 4 Apr 1685 p. 66
  5. Ebenezer, b. 25 Jul 1688 p.65

She passed away after 6 Jun 1715, as she was alive when her husband's estate was probated:

Letter att admº of all ye Goods & Estate of Matthew Clark Late of Haverhill Decd Intestate was Granted unto his Widow Mary Clark & his Eldest son John Clark They haveing given bond to administer According To Law To Exhibit an Inventory att or before ye first Monday of July & To Render on account of admº att a before ye first Monday of December next ensueing

An accounting was exhibited by the administrators 5 December 1715.[5]

Two different death dates are cited in the merged Wikitree profiles. Neither date has a source citation. The dates are 1675 and 1685.
