Jean was a Residenter of Leith at the time of her marriage. Alexander was a farmer of Park, near Burntisland. [1]
No certain baptism has been found for Jean. she may have been born in Scotland or London.
There is a burial of a Jean Dow, 65 years, wid of Alexander McDonald, labourer, in Edinburgh on the 14th of December 1824, which may be her. Alexander and Jean's elder children were baptised in Burntisland, Fife, but their third child was born in South Leith. Alexander was described as a farmer on their marriage, but as a coal grieve on their daughter Sarah's death certificate.
