Note

The date of birth (2 Jan 1712) is sometimes listed as the date of his christening. As a result, some believe his date of birth is in 1711.

The date of death is sometimes listed as 21 May 1772. I think that this is being confused by many researchers with the date of his father's death. I also think that both father and son have the name John Thomas -- with the father being known as John and the son as Thomas. This would explain some of the confusion between the records.

Thomas was born in 1712. He passed away in 1762.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:

Dowden-632 and Dowden-29 appear to represent the same person because: My ancestor, Clementious Dowden, is his son, and the life dates of Thomas match. The sources for Dowden-29 are those that I have e seen in my research, but that I have not had time to post in Wikitree.
