John Goade and Abigail Downing

John Goade (or Goode),a skinner of London, probably met Abigail Downing,of Ipswich Suffolk, through a sister or brother of hers who lived in London.John and Abigail were married in her parish of St Lawrence ,Ipswich,February 20 1614/15,and afterward made their home in London,Their children were christened in the parish of St Helen's in Bishopgate in 1616,1617,1619,and 1621.Abigail's brother Nathaniel,of London,by his 1616 will gave Amy sister Abigail Goade the wife of John Goade Skynner the sonne of Twentie Pounds....and my godsonne John Goade the sonne of my said sister fortie shillings to make him a cuppie.

The children were still small when John passed away.He was buried at St Helens Bishopsgate,April 9,1623,as John Goade Skynner.

Abigail remained a widow for two and a half years and then married,in her home parish of St Helen's Bishopsgate,December 29 1625 , John Hill, who was a Skynner the same as her first husband. To them were born at least two children,John and Susan. Their son being named John likely indicates that son John Goade died. The family lived in the London parish of St John the Baptist Walbrook.
