Patrick was born in Corning, NY in 1861 to Lawrence and Margaret, two Irish immigrants.[1][2][3][4] His mother and three eldest siblings all died between 1875 and 1878. His siblings were all in their early 20s. His younger sister Annie died as a teenager in 1884.
Patrick had a son, Henry, in 1889 with wife Mary Ann Moore.[5][4][6]
Patrick enlisted with the New York State National Guards (to join the 2rd Regiment Infantry, New York State Vols., company K) on July 16, 1898.[7]The Spanish-American War had started in April. His regiment moved to Camp Alger in Virginia in May and then moved several times around Virginia due to disease outbreaks.[8]The war ended in August and he mustered out on November 30, 1898 in Hornell.[7] He enlisted on June 16, 1898 with the 3rd Regt. N.Y. Infantry and was a Private with Company K.[9]
He lived in Toledo, Ohio, without Mary and Henry, in 1901 and never lived with them again.[10][11]In 1906, Patrick married Dora Wright, a widow with two sons.[12] He worked on the railroad and later as a farmer in Ansonia, Pennsylvania.[4]
Dora died in 1932 in Wellsboro, PA. Patrick died at the VA hospital in Bath, NY in 1944.[4]
