DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:

Hello. I'm writing about my GGGGG Grandfater Drake-158 (Benjamin 1734-1817) Not Drake 4253.

My FTDNA results show 10 out of 12 markers with Chris Chester's "Dutch Drakes" markers. In other words DNA does not rule me out as a direct descendant of the Dutch Drakes. My GreatUncle Frank H wrote in 1926 that his GGG Grandfather Benjamin married a "Miss Smith." She would be his GGG Grandmother. Wiki has my Benjamin marrying a Sarah Smith. Chris Chester says there is an indenture at FHL film #0828547 dated 7 Aug 1753 between Benjamin and Samuel Denton, both of Goshen, that notes the consent of his wife Sarah. Unfortunately COVID has shut down the local Family History Center so I have not verified this document. If this indenture says what Chris says, then Benjamin married Sarah sometime before 7 Aug 1753. Can you help me by telling me how the Project determined that Benjamin-158 should be noted as a New Netherland Settler? Kindest Regards, Doug
