William (FitzHarold) de Ewyas was born in England.
Birth and Parents
William FitzHarald de Ewyas was one of five sons of Harald FitzRalph de Ewyas. [1]
He is named as a son and witness in an undated charter in which "Haraldus de Ewyas" donated "ecclesiam Sancti Michaelis de Ewyas…decimam de domino castelli de Ewyas…" to Gloucester St Peter, confirmed by "Roberto herede meo", by undated charter, and witnessed by "Rogerus, Johannes, Alexander et Willelmus filii mei…"[2]
Birth Year Estimation
William's father was born about 1055, and his marriage year is estimated as, say, 1080, with his sons born at two year intervals commencing in 1081. The birth year of William, the fifth named son in the charter, can ge estimated as, say, 1089.
