Drake died Wednesday at the hom eof his daughter, Mrs. George Henry at Paulding, after several weeks’ illness. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Drake, pioneer residents of Bloom township. He was born near Eagleville, May 17 1840 and was aged 83 years, 27 days. In 1861 he enlised in Co. A., 21st regiment O.V.I. and served all through the Civil War. He was wounded in the battle of Chicamauga. After he returned home from the war in 1865, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Boley. He purchased a farm west of Eagleville where they resided for many years. He was a member of the Urie Post G. A. R. His wife died in 1918 and since then he has resided with his daughter. He is survived by four sons, Sylvester, Jack, Frank and George; all living at Toledo and four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Henry of Paulding; Mrs. Susie Gloe of Sherwood, Mich; Mrs. Viola Shoupe of North Baltimore and Mrs. Nellie Savial of Tiffin; also one brother, Joseph Drake of Eagleville. Twenty grand-children and three great-grand-children also survive. CONT CONT The funeral was held at North Baltimore, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. F. E. Higbee officiating.
