Biography

John William Drake was born on 10 Mar 1816 in Donalds, Abbeville, South Carolina, United States, son of James Allen Drake Sr. (1784 - 1854) and Nancy Agnes (Breckenridge) Drake (1786 - 1857).

His sister was Jane (Drake) Pennell (1813 - 1898).

John (~25) married Amanda Adella Seawright (~25) , daughter of Andrew Seawright and Margaret Stewart Richey, in 1841[1]. Their children were:

  1. Andrew Seawright Drake (1845 - 1913)
  2. Mary Elizabeth (Drake) Devore (1847 - 1929)
  3. William Baker Drake (1854 - 1947).

John died on 22 Aug 1858 in Donalds aged 42. He is buried in Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Shoals Junction, Greenwood County, South Carolina, USA.[2][3]
