Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Letitia (Drew) Barker was a Virginia colonist.

According to descendants, Letitia Drew was born about 1630 in Surry County, Virginia.[citation needed]

She married John Barker. John Barker was documented in Virginia by 1649.[1] The family tradition that her spouse, John Barker, was Master of the Ship Abraham has been disproven. Documentation of that fact can be seen on his profile.

She died on the 9th of January 1671.[citation needed] One Letitia Barker was a witness to a Power of Attorney for Vincent Inge to Isack Watson on the 9th day of June 1671 in Surry County, Virginia.[2] Documents prove that John Barker had remarried by 1673 which indicates she died between June 1671 and 1673.

Children

Joshua Barker ( born - died before 1679)
John Barker, Jr.
Joel Barker
Jethro Barker (born 1688 - died 1747)

Research Notes

Descendants' claim that she was the daughter of Thomas Drew Jr. born in 1615 is not credible. It is also stated that her mother was Frances Barker (born Ward) 1599-1677.
