Biography

Moses was born after 1790. He appears in the 1820, [1] 1830, [2] and 1840 U.S. Censuses. [3] He apparently died before 1850 since wife Elizabeth is listed alone on the 1850 census. [4] A modern grave marker says he is buried in New Hope Cemetery, New Zion, Clarendon County, South Carolina. [5]

Research Notes

There are some things that are possibilities as his father being a William Driggers as William did buy land in Orangeburg SC in 1798 and counted in Sumpter 1800. Ephraim was counted same year in Marion and people will confuse him as the father of Moses that married Elizabeth Rodgers and there were TWO Moses at that time.

Ephraim Driggers did have a son named Moses but not ours. Ephraim was counted in the 1790 & 1800 census in Marion SC but an Ephraim Driggers died in 1816 Adams Mississippi and left a will and estate.

1830 Fayette Georgia a Moses Driggers age 30-40 was counted in the census

1840 Census Moses Driggers was counted in Henry Georgia

1850 Census an Ephraim Driggers age 17 born S.C. was counted with family in Bulloch Georgia, fathers name was John Driggers age 47 born S.C.

1827 Georgia land lottery an Ephraim Driggers registered in the drawing, he cannot be the older on at died in MS in 1816 but perhaps a son of.

Also an Ephraim Driggers marrying a Betsy Salsberry 22 Sep 1808 in Bulloch Georgia

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Moses by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Moses:

Driggers-1278 and Driggers-47 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, similar birth dates, same name of wife, same death date, some of their children have the same names.
