By 1738, Zedekiah had removed westward and was living in Sutton when he first married. Then they moved back to Bedford.
Marriages and Children
Zedekiah Drury of Sutton married Hannah Axtell of Grafton in Grafton on 20 July 1738.[1][2][3]
Gershom/Garshom was born to Zedekiah and Hannah on 31 Dec 1739.[4]
Hannah Drury, wife of Zedekiah, died in Bedford on 11 Jan 1739-40. [5], 11 days after the birth of Gershom.
Zedekiah Drury married Hannah Woolley in Bedford on 2 Apr 1741, as his second wife.[6] It seems likely that she was Hannah Woolley, born in the nearby town of Concord on 29 Mar 1722 to Thomas and Mary Chamberlain Woolley.
Zedekiah was born to Zedekiah and his second wife Hannah Drury in Bedford on 1 Mar 1741-2.[4]
Zedekiah and Hannah (Woolley) Drury removed to Hollis, Massachusetts, where most of their children were born, then to Temple, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.
A series of land transactions traces the moves of Zedekiah Drury, Sr. from Bedford to Dunstable,
Hillsborough County, New Hampshire (from which Hollis was formed), then to Temple.
By 25 March 1743, Zedekiah Drury had moved to Dunstable, New Hampshire. On that date, Zedekiah
Drury, blacksmith, “of a place called Dunstable in the Province of New Hampshire” sold his Bedford
land holdings.[7] Dunstable was dissolved into several towns in New Hampshire, including Hollis,
which received it’s charter in 1746.[8] By 1745, Zedekiah Drury referred to himself as “of Hollis” in his
land sales, and continued to do so until 1769, when he began to refer to himself as “of Temple.”[9] The
1775 census of Temple lists Captain Zedekiah Drury, Zedekiah Drury, Jr., and Gershom Drury -
confirming the residence of the Bedford Zedekiah Drury and his family in Temple.[10]
His death date is often given as 1776 or 1777, but this seems to be a confusion with the death date of his son, Zedekiah Drury, Jr, who also lived in Temple. Zedekiah, Jr. died just before 27 Nov 1776, when his father and his widow were appointed administrators of his estate.[11]
Zedekiah, Sr. was alive on 13 Sep 1790 when he and his wife Hannah signed a deed in which Zedekiah Drury "of Temple" and his wife Hannah sold all their "right title interest and claim" to a parcel of land in Temple.[12]
