Johannes was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, on 10 November 1710, recorded as the child of Jacobus du Bois and Gerrittje Gerritze. Witnesses were Geurt Rosa and Jacomyntje Kunst.[1]
His parents were Jacob Du Bois 1661–1745 and Gerritje Gerritsen VanNieukirk 1669–1739.
Johannes du Bois married Judikje Wynkoop in the Kingston church on 11 December 1736 after registering their banns on 14 November. According to the record, both parties were born in Horly (Hurley) and living there, and it was the first marriage for both.[2]
