Here’s a case of the addition of “dit” in the last name were it was switch from Desrosiers to Dutremble. When Michel Desrosiers moved from Champlain to Rimouski a Guarantor named Du Tremble issued him a written document to identify him as who he was, namely a good Catholic in Champlain but the missionary Ambroise Rouellard baptising Paul switched his last name to Dutremble in 1727 and the rest of Michel Desrosiers children thereafter were referred to as Dutremble, I suppose Michel Desrosiers didn't have that document any more but he was known as Michel Desrosiers dit Dutremble in Rimouski. Since Véronique last name was recorded as Dutremble,
Véronique Dutremble, daughter of Michel Dutremble and of Marie Jeanne Maureau, married Françoise Laviolet (sic), son of François Laviolet and of Marie Bourassa, on 5 January 1756 in Rimouski.[1]
One child was born to them on 31 March of that year, Germain, who died and was buried the next day. Véronique Derosier died on 3 april 1756, being buried on the 4th in Rimouski, listed as 21 on the record.[2]
