Francina Du Floo was born on Friday, January 26, 1816, in Zuidzande, Netherlands to Boudwijn Du Floo, 29, and Elizabeth Wage, 26.[1] At the time of their marriage in 1813, Francina's father was a "Domestique de charrue" (plow servant), and her mother was a "servant".[2] She was likely named for her father's mother, Francina Feijter, born abt. 1765.
On Nov 16, 1837 Francina Du Floo, married Abram Jansen (his second wife), son of Izak Jansen and Susanna Lampier in Zuidezande, Oostburg, Zeeland, Netherlands.[3] Abram's occupation was landsmanknecht (landworker/farmer) and Francina's was "dienstmeid" (serving girl). They had 11 children together between 1838 and 1859.
In 1865 Abram and Francina's oldest son, Boudwijin "Ben", emigrated to Manchester, Ontario, New York. Over the next few years other family members followed, most settling in Wayne County, New York.
On May 1, 1871 Abram 57, Francina 56, Leah 22, Rachel 20, Jannis 14, Jacob 10 and granddaughter Francina 8 came to the US on the Algeria, steerage class. [4] After coming to the U.S. the family used the surname of "Johnson" instead of Jansen.
