Biography

Patrick was born 21st day of February 1832 in Newberry District, South Carolina. [1] He was the third child born to Benjamin Duckett and his second wife, Mary Nicholas [1]

At the time the 1850 census was taken, Patrick can be found in the home of his father and stepmother in Newberry County, South Carolina. [2]

on 28 October 1858 in Newberry District, South Carolina, Patrick Duckett and Kate Brown were married by Rev C. McLeod. [3] When the 1860 census was taken, Patrick and Kate are found in Newberry County with a pair of one year old children, Willie and Alice, [4]

In 1861 Benjamin Duckett died leaving a will naming P H Duckett as one of his surviving children. [5] On 28 April 1866, P H Duckett witnessed a labor contract [6] On 1 June 1866 Patrick Duckett executed a contract with Elizabeth Hill detailing the terms of her employment by him [7] Patrick and Kate appear in the 1870 census for Cromer's township, Newberry County with five children, Alice, Adeline, Harry, Franklin, and George. [8]
