Velma Walker

Velma Duckworth Walker died Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Wisteria Gardens in Pearl, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 31, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral home in Byram, MS. Services will be at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Raymond, MS.

Mrs. Walker was born March 4, 1922, in Magee, MS to Buray David Duckworth and Emma Jones Duckworth.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Ottis Walker; two sisters; and four brothers.

She is survived by her twin sister, Elma Basye; her sons, Jim Walker (Cathy), Ben Walker (Vicki) and Rodney Walker (Charla); 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Walker was a member of Raymond Baptist Church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Wisteria Gardens and the caregivers at Providence Hospice.
