Elsie May Duell was born on the family farm at Nairne, in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, on 25 Apr 1907. She is the daughter of James Duell and Elsie Finch. [1]
On 04 Dec 1937, Elsie married Frederick Gordon Trevor Turner (known as "Trevor") at the Unley Methodist Church, Unley, South Australia, [2] and celebrated at the home of Trevor's maternal grandparents, which was in Hughes Street, North Unley. It is interesting to note that the notice of approaching marriage gives Elsie's address also as "Hughes Street, North Unley".
After their marriage, Elsie and Trevor apparently lived at 269 Young Street, Wayville, then after Trevor was registered as a medical practitioner, at 98 Unley Road, North Unley, where Trevor had his general medical practice.
They produced two children
Around 1953 they built a new house at 7 Wilgena Av, Myrtle Bank, South Australia. Elsie continued living here for some years after Trevor's death in 1979. Around 1995, she moved to an aged care facility in Freeling, to be near her daughter, Annette. ( Freeling is north of Adelaide, equidistant between Gawler and Kapunda).
Elsie died at Freeling on 27 Nov 2001 and her memorial plaque is combined with Trevor's at Centennial Park Cemetery, South Australia. [3]
