Note: The story about William being a stowaway came from two other Dugan researchers {one turned out to be a distant cousin of mine}. I haven't talked to either of them in awhile so I don't have anymore on that at the moment. But as far as Ann Russell being this William's wife, I really don't know. I found a couple of postings which I have to go back & find {it was late, I was tired, I didn't write everything down...}that listed a William Patrick Dugan who married an Ann Russell and they both stated they were married in Scotland. One also listed their birthdates as 1791 & 1795 but it still showed them as the parents of {my} John Dugan b. October 1800 in Darke County, Ohio. Obviously a mistake somewhere.
I also found a listing on a site called:
"Revolutionary War Soldiers Living in the State of Ohio in 1818-1819" at: http://php.ucs.indiana.edu/~jetorres/ohiorev.html {it is a government listing of Pensioners}. It lists William Dugan, a Private, New Jersey, who is buried in Greenville Cemetary - b. 1760 d. August 14,
