Biography

Roger was born 14 Jul 1859 in Donegal, Ireland. He was the son of John Dugan and Catherine.

Came to USA @ age 12 original occupation was barber however died of heart attack in pit of an Otis Elevator as an employee.

In 1900 he was living in Philadelphia city Ward 3, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] The household included Rodger Dougan age 43, wife Martha A Dougan age 39, son John J Dougan age 15, son Daniel F Dougan age 14, son Bernard C Dougan age 12, daughter Elizabeth Dougan age 10, daughter Cathrine Dougan age 8, daughter Jennie Dougan age 6, daughter Martha J Dougan age 3, boarder James Kelly age 35, boarder Daniel Kelly age 31, boarder Edward Skay age 73, and boarder Cathrine McCue age 60. Roger, Edward and Catherine McCue were born in Ireland, the rest in Pennsylvania. Roger and Martha had been married 16 years. Martha was the mother of 8 children, 7 living. Roger was a barber. Roger immigrated in 1864, had been in the United States for 36 years, and was a naturalized citizen. Roger rented his house. Son John was a plumber. Daniel and Bernard were at school. James and Daniel Kelly both worked as a weaver. Edward was a day laborer and had immigrated to the United States in 1840 and was a naturalized citizen. Cathrine McCue was a widow, working as a domestic and had immigrated to the United States in 1858. The father of James and Daniel Kelly and of Martha was born in Ireland, and the mother in Pennsylvania.

He died 8 Jan 1907 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[2] According to family lore, he died of a heart attack in the pit of an Otis Elevator as an employee. His death certificate lists typhoid fever as the cause of death with hemorrhages as a contributing factor. His occupation was elevator construction, and place of burial is St Charles Cemetery, Kellyville.

He is buried in Clifton Heights, PA at St. Charles Borremeo.
