Henry was born October 8, 1774 at the Duncan Manse in Lochrutton, Scotland. Clan Duncan Society[1][2], Henry Duncan, 1774. and Memoir of the Rev. Henry Duncan D.D., minister of Ruthwell – written by his son, George John C. Duncan [3][4]
Henry married 1st Sept 10 1805 Agnes Craig, the only surviving daughter of John Craig and Barbara Orr (John Craig was his predecessor at his first appointment at Ruthwell. Henry and Agnes were married 28 years. Agnes died Jan 28 1832.
Henry married 2nd Mary Grey (dau of George Grey of West Ord and Widow of Robert Lundie, Minister of Kelso) Mary died May 12 1877 [5][6][7]
