Jonathan has two children, Sophronia and Nancy, with him in 1860 that must be grandchildren or other relatives. Both born in AL. (1848, 1850). Neither is found on the 1850 census, either in Jonathan's household or in another Duncan household. Neither is found as a Duncan in 1870. Probably, their last name was not actually Duncan. Some of the earlier children could be other relatives as well.

Notes
Possible names for Jonathan's first two daughters, based on nearby marriage records (early Coffee and Bedford county records are missing):
Dicy Duncan Andrew J Duncan 23 Dec 1839 Franklin (Dicey can be a nickname for Diana, Elizabeth or Edith) This may be Daughter Three because her mother's name was Elizabeth, however it could also be Daughter Two since we don't know Elizabeth's mother's name.) On later censuses, Andrew's wife is named Nancy, and she says both her parents were born in TN.
Tolly Duncan Jesse Williams 28 Sep 1840 Cannon (probably Dolly, which can be a nickname for Dorothy) She is found in 1850 as Mary Williams living with a Francis Dunkin age 67, almost certainly her father.
